The new BMW iX4 now has a UK price and a delivery date—and the next X5 still offers diesel. Following yesterday’s reveals, today’s update focuses on what British buyers can actually order, plus fresh developments from BMW’s electric range, MINI and Motorrad.

Today’s highlights · 9 October 2026
  • UK iX4 prices start at £60,170; deliveries begin on 6 March 2027.
  • New X5 UK prices cover electric, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions.
  • A US survey highlights the gap between everyday mileage and desired EV range.
  • Factory photographs, a MINI rally debut and an unconfirmed Motorrad teaser round out the news.

BMW iX4: the UK buying details

Official · published 8 October. BMW UK confirms that orders are open. M Sport is standard, with the first customer deliveries scheduled for 6 March 2027. [1]

iX4 40 xDrive M Sport £60,170

New BMW X5: UK prices—and a diesel choice

Official · UK pricing added 8 October. This is a pricing update to the X5 announcement originally published on 30 June, rather than another model reveal. BMW lists a UK launch in spring 2027. [2]

New X5 UK starting prices, on the road
Version Powertrain Price
iX5 60 xDrive Electric £85,375
X5 40d xDrive Diesel £85,885
X5 50e xDrive Plug-in hybrid £86,870
X5 M60e xDrive Plug-in hybrid £101,775

For owners, the important distinction is that diesel availability depends on the model. Reports about the next 3 Series dropping diesel do not mean BMW is removing it from every range. The new X5 40d remains a UK option. [2] Read our 3 Series diesel explainer.

iX3 M60: a UK webpage is not yet a UK price

Official · published 8 October. BMW’s UK PressClub has posted the iX3 M60 release, but explicitly describes it as an unadapted global announcement. It does not provide a UK price. Buyers should keep global specifications and scheduling separate from confirmed local ordering information. [3]

EV range: what people drive versus what they want

Official research release · 8 October; survey conducted 11–13 September. A BMW-commissioned survey of 1,005 US adults found that 73% said 75 miles would cover their daily driving, while 42% wanted at least 300 miles before considering an EV. Price remained a barrier for 51%. [4]

These are stated preferences from the US, not UK buying figures. For anyone comparing cars, the useful questions remain your regular journey length, access to charging and the longer trips you actually make.

Elsewhere in the BMW world

  • iX4 factory photographs · reported 8 October: BMWBLOG has published images from Debrecen, where the iX4 will share production with the iX3. The photographs do not establish a UK delivery allocation or waiting time. [5]
  • Germany · reported 8 October: the iX4 configurator is live, with an entry price of €70,900. German prices and equipment should not be substituted for the UK offer. [6]
  • MINI motorsport · event began 8 October: MINI USA’s first Rebelle Rally entry uses the 2027 Countryman Untamed Edition. The announcement was published on 7 October; the competition debut is the new event, not a second road-car launch. [7]

Watchlist: interesting, but not confirmed specifications

  • Electric i3 M60 · BMWBLOG, 8 October: sharing hardware with the iX3 M60 could suggest similar power, but BMW has not confirmed the saloon’s final output, performance or price. [8]
  • BMW Motorrad · Rushlane, 8 October: a reported teaser points to a fully faired motorcycle reveal on 15 October. “F 450 RR” is the proposed name in reporting; it should not yet be treated as a confirmed production specification. [9]

What this means for modifications

New model names, trim levels and lighting packages bring new compatibility questions. A similar-looking front end does not establish that lamps, grilles or bodykits interchange. Check the exact generation and original equipment before choosing modifications.
