BMW news • 14 October 2026
BMW has brought a V8 back to the updated 7 Series with the new M760 xDrive. At the same time, the group’s latest sales figures reveal two very different stories: electric demand is accelerating in Europe, while a steep fall in China pulled global deliveries down.
- The new M760 xDrive uses a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with approximately 570 hp and xDrive.
- BMW Group delivered 551,072 vehicles in Q3 2026, down 6.3% year on year.
- Europe rose 2.7% and the US 2.5%, but China fell 24.8%.
- European battery-electric deliveries jumped 37.5%; BMW says the iX3 has passed 100,000 European orders.
- UK price and availability for the M760 have not yet been confirmed.
The V8 7 Series is back—now as the M760
Confirmed reveal • 14 October 2026. BMW’s new M760 xDrive restores a V8 to the facelifted G70-generation 7 Series. Independent reports based on BMW’s launch information describe a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 producing approximately 570 hp, standard xDrive and a 0–60 mph time of 3.5 seconds.
The model takes over the role previously occupied by the 760i, but with M Performance positioning. Visual changes include the M Sport Pro front treatment, 22-inch wheels, M mirror caps, a more assertive rear diffuser and visible exhaust outlets. Inside, reports point to an M steering wheel, M-specific lighting and dedicated M content within iDrive X.
For enthusiasts, the important part is BMW’s three-way flagship strategy: conventional V8 power, the plug-in-hybrid M760e and the electric i7 range can sit alongside one another rather than forcing every luxury buyer down the same route.
BMW’s Q3 numbers: strength in Europe, pressure in China

Europe’s electric shift is the standout
BMW Group delivered 81,941 fully electric vehicles in Europe during Q3, up 37.5%. Battery-electric cars represented 34.7% of the group’s European deliveries—roughly one in three.
The iX3 is the clearest model-level signal. BMW says more than 100,000 European orders were placed within a year, calling it the most successful market launch of a BMW Group model to date. The company also reports strong interest in the new 3 Series and X5 families.
That does not mean combustion power is disappearing. The M760 reveal shows BMW is still prepared to develop a V8 flagship where demand and regulation allow it. The emerging pattern is choice: petrol, plug-in hybrid and electric models sharing a generation and design direction, but not necessarily the same bumpers, cooling layouts, sensors or lighting hardware.
MINI grows over nine months despite a softer quarter
MINI’s Q3 deliveries slipped 2.4%, but the brand remains up 6.8% for the first nine months of 2026 at 220,247 vehicles. Fully electric cars represented 37.2% of MINI’s year-to-date volume, helped by JCW models and the Paul Smith Edition.
What this means for BMW owners and modifiers
- Do not treat powertrains as cosmetic trim levels. M760, M760e and i7 variants can differ in cooling, exhaust, underbody, sensor and bumper packaging.
- Neue Klasse demand is no longer theoretical. More iX3s on European roads will create a meaningful future audience for model-specific styling and lighting options.
- Fitment needs to become more exact. Similar-looking BMW generations increasingly combine different electrical architectures, lighting control and driver-assistance hardware.
VMSS follows BMW’s latest developments to inform the aftermarket parts, bodykits and lighting modifications we design, manufacture and supply. Any future product must be verified against the exact chassis, production date, original lighting specification and sensor equipment; visual similarity alone is not proof of compatibility.
