BMW’s Barcelona weekend brought a class podium for the M4 GT3 EVO and a recovery drive for the M Hybrid V8. Away from the circuit, a new video offers a closer look at the already announced M760 xDrive. Here is the BMW car news worth catching up on this Monday, 19 October 2026.
Barcelona: an M4 podium and a difficult Hypercar weekend
Race and BMW report: 18 October 2026. Team WRT’s number 69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO climbed from 15th to third in LMGT3. Dan Harper, Parker Thompson and Anthony McIntosh secured their third podium of the season. [1]
| Car | Category | Finish |
|---|---|---|
| #15 M Hybrid V8 | Hypercar | 7th |
| #20 M Hybrid V8 | Hypercar | 14th |
| #69 M4 GT3 EVO | LMGT3 | 3rd |
| #32 M4 GT3 EVO | LMGT3 | 12th |
The number 15 recovered from 16th on the grid. BMW remained second in the Hypercar manufacturers’ standings, 24 points ahead of third, heading towards Monza. [1]
What changes in the championship?
Toyota’s one-two finish secured the manufacturers’ title and ended BMW’s title challenge. Autosport reports that Toyota’s two crews remain in contention for the drivers’ crown. That distinction matters: a manufacturer winning its championship does not automatically settle which drivers become champions. [2]
For fans, the next interest is BMW’s attempt to finish the season strongly at Monza. The M4 result also illustrates why class positions matter in endurance racing: GT cars and purpose-built Hypercars compete for different honours in the same event.
A closer look at the new M760 xDrive
New walkaround published 18 October. BMWBLOG’s video tours the M760 xDrive’s exterior, cabin and V8 engine bay. This follows the model reveal covered in our earlier news; it adds fresh visual coverage rather than another launch. [3]
It is a useful watch for anyone interested in the latest G70 facelift’s M Performance styling. A walkaround can show design details, but it does not establish that replacement bumpers, grilles or lighting from another 7 Series variant will fit.
Following BMW, from the circuit to the road
VMSS follows BMW developments to inform the aftermarket parts, bodykits and lighting modifications we design, manufacture and supply. Race cars provide plenty of visual inspiration, while road-car fitment still needs to be checked against the exact generation and specification.
