The F80 M3-inspired IKON look has arrived for the BMW 3 Series F30 Saloon and F31 Touring. Our newest finish, Two Tone V3, brings together the dark eyebrow of Black Shadow and the bright internal detailing of our V2 OEM Chrome design.
The result is a sharper upper edge with the depth and contrast of chrome inside the headlight. If you have been waiting for an IKON finish that sits between OEM Chrome and a fully blacked-out housing, this is it.
New arrival: Two Tone V3
- Eyebrow trim: black.
- Internal levelling trim, lens surrounds and bezels: OEM-style chrome.
- Current F30/F31 option: white and yellow switchable DRLs.
Two Tone V3: Black Shadow meets V2 OEM Chrome
Two Tone V3 changes the balance of the internal finish. The eyebrow trim is black, creating a darker, more defined line across the top. The internal levelling trim and bezels retain an OEM-style chrome finish, keeping the sculpted lighting elements visually distinct.
Here is how the three finishes compare:
| IKON finish | Eyebrow trim | Internal trim & bezels |
|---|---|---|
| V2 OEM Chrome | OEM-style chrome | OEM-style chrome |
| Two Tone V3 | Black | OEM-style chrome |
| Black Shadow V3 | Black | Black / de-chromed |
Two Tone describes the housing finish. The current F30/F31 Two Tone V3 listing offers white and yellow DRLs, switchable using the high-beam stalk. Check the selected product for its available DRL colours and original-headlight fitment options.

Designed by VMSS, developed with our manufacturing partners
VMSS designs and specifies IKON styling and finish updates with our manufacturing partners. We work on the details that shape the finished headlight: its visual signature, internal trim combinations and the specification supplied to our customers.
Installation experience and customer feedback also inform ongoing compatibility refinements. Following VMSS gives you a direct view of our newest designs, finish options and product updates as they become available.
These are aftermarket assemblies made for the F30/F31 application. “F80 M3-style” describes the design inspiration; “OEM Chrome” describes the finish. The headlights are not genuine BMW assemblies.
Why VMSS supplies current batches directly from our supplier
Every VMSS IKON order is supplied from the latest available manufacturer stock for the model, finish and headlight configuration you choose. We arrange shipment directly from our supplier instead of buying a bulk batch into a UK warehouse and continuing to sell that batch after the specification has moved on.
Our manufacturing partners replenish headlight stock monthly and make running improvements to designs, drivers, modules and compatibility. In a fast-moving range, a warehouse batch can be overtaken by a revised specification within around 45 days. A newly replenished batch does not necessarily mean a completely new design, but the production date and hardware revision matter.
This approach helps customers receive current designs and benefit from applicable component and compatibility improvements sooner. You still buy from VMSS LTD, with VMSS handling your order, fitment questions and aftercare.
How bulk sea freight can delay access to updates
Consider a bulk shipment that spends 30–45 days at sea. Add consolidation, customs clearance and warehouse handling, and that batch could be two to three months old when it reaches a UK shelf, before allowing for the time it takes to sell.
If a model is revised during that period, newer drivers or a newer finish may already be available from the manufacturer. A slow bulk supply chain can therefore span several monthly production cycles before the customer receives the headlights.
Actual stock age and transport methods vary by seller. The useful questions are: When was this set manufactured, which revision is it, and does that revision support my car? Our direct-supply approach is intended to keep the gap between current production and your order as short as practical.
A recent example: HBA-compatible drivers and modules
A recent IKON development has been updated drivers and control modules supporting High Beam Assist (HBA) on compatible configurations. This is an example of why two headlights that look similar in photographs can differ in their supplied electronics.
On a correctly equipped car with the matching headlight version, HBA compatibility allows the vehicle to retain its existing automatic switching between dipped and main beam. The car still needs its compatible factory camera, controls and configuration. The replacement headlight does not add HBA to an unequipped car, and HBA is separate from adaptive cornering or glare-free beam shaping.
Tell us if retaining HBA is important so we can check your exact vehicle and selected version. Read our adaptive headlight, coding and HBA guide for the full explanation.
Batch dates: a clearer way to identify your headlights
We have asked our manufacturers to include production batch dates on all headlights, making it easier to identify when a set was produced and trace the supplied version.
Keep the batch/date label information with your order records. If you need help identifying a label or checking the specification of your set, send VMSS a clear photograph and your order number. A production date is useful evidence of age; the exact revision and vehicle compatibility complete the picture.
Current specification, backed by VMSS support
Trust also comes from choosing the right version and having support after delivery:
- Fitment help before ordering. Send your VIN or registration, original headlight type and connector photographs for a VMSS fitment check. Tell us about factory adaptive lighting or previous retrofits.
- Main-function compatibility support. Correctly matched versions are designed for plug-and-play operation of the main lighting functions. Any coding needed for those functions is free through VMSS; optional warning-only configuration work is quoted separately.
- A 12-month limited headlight warranty. Covered manufacturing or component faults are handled under the published warranty terms, alongside your statutory rights.
- Further DRL aftercare. Where stated on the listing, an additional two years of discounted DRL LED module aftercare is available. This is a component discount programme, not an extension of the full-headlight warranty.
- Help if something is wrong. Contact us with your order number, photographs or video and relevant vehicle details so we can investigate and arrange the appropriate remedy.
We prioritise current revisions and ongoing reliability improvements. If a fault occurs, our support and applicable warranty remain part of the purchase. Professional installation and a beam-alignment check are recommended.
