Returns, Refunds & Right of Withdrawal
Last updated: June 2026
This policy applies to purchases made on vmss.co.uk. It covers your statutory cancellation rights as a consumer in the UK or EU, our returns process, and product-specific conditions for headlights and carbon fibre parts. Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights.
1. Delivery times
Because many of our products are produced in limited runs or to order, delivery times vary by product type:
- Headlights (e.g. V3 IKON series): typically 7–14 days, up to a maximum of 20 days.
- Lightweight carbon fibre parts (e.g. trims, spoilers, diffusers): typically 7–14 days.
- Large carbon fibre items (e.g. bonnets, boot lids, wide-body components): produced to order, typically 35–45 days. The estimated delivery window is shown on the product page and you accept it when placing your order.
If we cannot deliver within the stated window, we will contact you with the option of a revised date or a full refund.
2. Your 14-day right to cancel (UK and EU consumers)
If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you may cancel your order for any reason within 14 days of the day you (or someone you nominate) receive the goods. For orders delivered in multiple shipments, the period runs from receipt of the last item.
To exercise this right you must tell us before the 14 days expire. You can:
- Use our online withdrawal function: Withdraw from contract here — you will receive an immediate confirmation with a reference number; or
- Email us at returns@vmss.co.uk with a clear statement that you wish to cancel, including your name, order number and email address; or
- Use the model cancellation form at the end of this policy.
You then have 14 days from notifying us to send the goods back.
Refunds
- We will refund the full price of the goods plus standard outbound delivery (we are not required to refund premium/express delivery upgrades).
- The refund is made within 14 days of you telling us you are cancelling — but we may withhold it until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent them (e.g. a postage receipt or tracking number), whichever is earlier.
- Refunds are made to the original payment method at no fee.
Return shipping costs
You bear the direct cost of returning the goods. For large carbon items this can be significant given their size — we recommend obtaining a courier quote before purchase if this matters to you. We can arrange collection at your request and deduct the actual cost from your refund.
Condition of returned goods and deductions
You may inspect the goods as you would in a shop — for headlights and carbon parts that means examining them visually and checking the fit and finish. You may not install, connect, code, drill, modify or paint them. We may deduct an amount reflecting any loss in value caused by handling beyond what was necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods. Examples that typically lead to deductions:
- Evidence of installation: marked mounting points, used fixings, wiring connectors that have been mated, coding/registration to a vehicle
- Broken factory seals on headlight units, removed protective films
- Scratched lenses or carbon lacquer, paint, adhesive or polish residue
- Missing packaging components, hardware, wiring harnesses or documentation
We do not charge restocking fees on statutory cancellations.
Items excluded from the right of withdrawal
Where permitted by law (Art. 16(c) Directive 2011/83/EU; reg. 28 of the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013), the right to cancel does not apply to goods made to your specification or clearly personalised — for example custom-painted headlight housings, bespoke colourways, or carbon parts produced to customer-specific dimensions. Where a product is excluded, this is stated on its product page before you order. Standard catalogue items are not affected.
3. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items
Your statutory rights for faulty goods are separate from, and in addition to, the 14-day cancellation right. Under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 (and equivalent EU rules) goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.
Transit damage
Please inspect your order on arrival. If the packaging or product is damaged, photograph it (including the packaging) and contact us within 48 hours where possible — this helps us claim against the carrier and resolve your case quickly. Reporting later does not remove your statutory rights, but may slow the process.
Faulty headlights — diagnosis and return authorisation
Headlights are complex electrical assemblies, and the majority of reported faults turn out to be installation or vehicle-coding issues rather than product defects. For that reason:
- Contact us first at returns@vmss.co.uk with your order number, a description of the fault, and (where possible) photos or video.
- Our technical team will run through remote diagnosis with you (wiring checks, coding verification, error codes).
- If a return is needed, we will issue a Return Authorisation (RMA) number and return instructions. Returns of allegedly faulty goods should not be sent back without an RMA — unauthorised returns may be refused or delayed.
This process organises returns; it does not limit your legal remedies. If a product is confirmed faulty you are entitled (depending on timing) to a repair, replacement or refund, and we bear the reasonable cost of return shipping for confirmed faults.
Installation note
Our headlights and carbon parts are designed for professional installation. Damage caused by incorrect installation, improper coding, wiring modifications, or accident damage is not a product fault and is not covered. We strongly recommend installation by a qualified auto electrician or body shop and retaining the invoice.
4. How to return
- Notify us (withdrawal page, email, or model form) and receive your reference / RMA number.
- Pack the item securely in its original packaging where available, with all hardware, harnesses, seals and documents.
- Mark the reference number on the outside of the parcel.
- Ship to the return address we provide, using a tracked and insured service — the goods are your responsibility until they reach us.
5. Exchanges
We are happy to exchange unused items (e.g. for a different variant) within the cancellation period — contact us and we will arrange it as a cancellation and new order, or a direct swap where stock allows.
6. Non-consumer (business) purchases
This policy’s cancellation rights apply to consumers. Business-to-business purchases are covered by our Terms and Conditions and do not carry the 14-day cancellation right.
7. Data we process for withdrawals
When you use the withdrawal function we record your name, email, order reference, the date/time, and your IP address, to comply with our legal record-keeping obligations. See our Privacy Policy for details.
